The Living Years

Lisa Rice wrote this.

Certain days of the year prompt us to evaluate life more than others. Specifically, relationships. This time of year, when Mother’s and Father’s Day run close together, poses a perfect example. Recently, I culled some old photographs for digital transfer. Boy, does time fly! It seems like just yesterday the camera flashed before my eyes.

Both of my parents are currently alive, healthy and active. Even better, with on-going effort, our relationship is, too. It’s the little things that count; a quick text, meeting to walk, phone call, luncheon date or notecard in the mail. All this to say, I’ve come to the conclusion that life is too short to let anything else crowd out what one day will only be memory.
